Early in 2019 prior to the expiration of the PQASSO license period, the Board of Directors of North West Parents and Friends Association after some consideration of whether to continue with the next step of PQASSO or apply for IQ “Improving Quality” Standard. They chose IQ as it was very User Friendly and well aligned to the Principles and Standards of the Irish Charities Regulator’s mandatory Charities Governance Code.
A Committee was formed and after “self assessing” against all the “Requirements” a very rigorous external assessment was carried out.
We are delighted to be the first Organisation in the Republic of Ireland to be IQ accredited. Both Edel Gallagher and Hazel Clarke accepted the Certificate at the annual SOLA Symposium in the University of Limerick on the 6th December, 2019 on behalf of the Organisation and also gave a Power Point presentation at the Symposium of our experience of achieving this Accreditation.
