About Us

Our daughter Amelia started in Holy Family in September 2022, and despite some initial hesitation about the best direction for Amelia, we can honestly say it is the best decision we have made for her. On her very first day she announced her arrival in Holy Family by taking all the toys from the shelves in her room as if she owned the place! Amelia has Down Syndrome, she has also had very significant medical interventions in her early years that contributed to delays in her development. However, in the months since Amelia started in Holy Family, we have seen very significant progress in her overall development. We can’t praise the staff highly enough, from the bus drivers, Des, and Gerry to all the staff who accompany Amelia on the bus each day, to the support workers in OT, physio, speech therapy and the school management - everybody we have engaged with has been brilliant in their dealings with Amelia and ourselves as parents. Sarah, Amelia’s primary care worker has been fantastic, she has undertaken patient but trojan work with Amelia and we see the positive impact of that work every day.

Our son started Holy Family in September 2022, like all parents we were very nervous of new unknown. We quickly realised Holy Family is everything we could have hoped for. All the staff are exceptional, the bus drivers and escort's make sure the day starts and ends positively and smoothly. To our son’s teachers who communicate everything to us daily basis, giving constant support and advice. Our son has achieved so much in the last couple of months, eating with spoon and folk, making friends with his peers, responding brilliantly to toilet training, using a communication program, using his walker much more confidently. Holy Family also give us the opportunity to sit down for goal meeting with our child's multidisciplinary team, teacher and Pauline. We also meet our son’s paediatrician a couple of times a year in the preschool, this is a much more relaxed appointment for parents and their children. Most importantly our son is happy and has great fun while in preschool. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to his education.

e Holy Family Preschool have been a massive support to our son and family. The incredible work of the staff and management has made and enormous impact on our son’s life. From our son’s very first day we felt and instant connection to the school where he has received amazing support from his key worker and staff. The Holy Family Preschool have a variety of activities and skills to allow our son to be happy and comfortable while he learns to explore ways to help communicate with staff and peers. The Holy Family Preschool are also very approachable, adaptable and open to new approaches and have a wealth of knowledge to offer to families.
