    North West Parents and Friends Association is a Voluntary Organisation providing person centred services for children and adults with special needs and their families.

     

    Position:              Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disabilities (R.N.I.D).

    Location:             Holy Family Pre-School, Sligo.

    Contract:             Specified Purpose Contract (Maternity Leave cover commencing November 2022)

    To work with Children with complex medical needs and autism in the Holy Family Pre-School. Hours of work may vary.

    Essential Criteria

    • Current Registration with An Bord Altranais.
    • At least one year’s experience of working with Children with complex medical needs and autism.
    • An understanding of TUSLA regulations.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.

     

    Desirable Criteria

    • Children First.
    • FAR Training.
    • Moving and Handling.
    • Computer Skills.
    • Full Clean Irish Driving Licence.

    We are currently inviting applications for the below positions.

    Job Title:             Care Assistants

    Location:             Sligo Town & Carrick On Shannon, Co. Leitrim

    Contract:             Permanent, Fixed-Term & Locum

     

    To work with Adults and/or Children with varying degrees of Intellectual Disability/Autism in Day/Residential/Respite Services.  Successful candidates will be expected to work hours which may include day time hours, evenings, night duty and/or sleepover duty to include weekends.  Hours of work will vary.

    Essential Criteria Desirable Criteria
    • FETAC/ QQI Level 5 (Major Award) in a relevant Healthcare course. (Adult Services)
    • Minimum FETAC/QQI Level 5 Major Award in Early Childhood Care and Education / Equivalent Minimum Qualification. (Children’s Services)
    • Experience of working with Adults and/or Children with Intellectual Disability and Autism.
    • Experience of working with people with a range of support needs to include behaviours of concern.
    • Full Clean Driving Licence and willing to drive the company vehicle. (Adults Services Only)
    • Person Centred Planning.
    • Assessment and Management of Risk.
    • Safeguarding of Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse training, First Aid/FAR training, Moving and Handling training, Food Hygiene training, Children First training.
    • Knowledge/experience of Menu Planning and household budgeting.
      • Knowledge of HIQA regulations & New Directions.
      • Ability to work using own initiative.
    • Computer Skills.

    Knowledge of Pre-School Inspections.
